Quinz further improved the already excellent records of Richard Johnson and Philip Hobbs in the Racing Post Chase at Kempton.

It was a fifth victory in the Grade Three handicap for jockey Johnson and a fourth for trainer Hobbs, who was left considering whether he would allow the seven-year-old to take his chance under 10st 8lb in the Stewart Family Spinal Research Handicap Chase at Cheltenham, but Hobbs added: "When he ran at Cheltenham behind Time For Rupert last time, we weren't sure if it was the right track for him.

"It was Andrew Cohen (owner) who wanted to come here. I wanted to go for a novice chase at Wetherby about three weeks ago - the safe option really."
