    Haydock Succumbs to Snow
    18/01/13

Saturday's meeting at Haydock was abandoned due to snow.

Clerk of the course Kirkland Tellwright was due to inspect the Haydock track at 8.30am, but with an inch of snow already on the ground and more forecast, he made an early call.

He said: "We have abandoned. We have to be realistic, we are white over now and could not race. This isn't as much as we are expecting, it's just an opening shot and there's no point in deluding ourselves."

Bold Sir Brian Heads 11 for Peter Marsh
    17/01/13

Trainer Lucinda Russell's Bold Sir Brian is among 11 declarations for the Peter Marsh Chase at Haydock on Saturday January 19, if the meeting survives an 8.30am inspection on Friday.

    Bold Sir Brian

The track ed an initial check on Thursday but the possibility of snow is now the major issue.

Bold Sir Brian will head the weights if the race goes ahead after Nicky Henderson decided not to declare Roberto Goldback.

The seven-year-old has won five of his eight starts over fences, including a very impressive victory last time out at Sandown.

Russell has given him an entry in the JLT Specialty Chase at Cheltenham in March while David Pipe has declared Consigliere and Tim Vaughan will run Tartak.

Venetia Williams will be represented by Summery Justice but not Katenko while Sue Smith's Gansey, Brian Ellison's Neptune Equester and Malcolm Jefferson's Mac Aeda will aim to keep the prize up north.
